This series began out of curiosity by my superimposing two black-and-white images, one a positive, the other a negative (inverted) image. Choosing the two images to combine was largely a matter of trial and error. In some cases the two images were of the same (or similar) subject captured from a different distance or perspective. In other cases the two images were totally unrelated in subject matter. I became intrigued with the unusual tonal range and the often mysterious, surrealistic nature of the resulting combinations. I also enjoyed the aleatory (random) process which led to many surprises when first seeing the final result. |
